For more than four decades, Alex Bridge has immersed herself in the creative arts, forging a rich and diverse practice that spans visual art, art education, theatre, and music. Since the 1980s, she has embraced life as both an artist and performer, drawing inspiration from the many ways creativity can connect, inspire, and transform.

Alex graduated from the Queensland College of Art at Griffith University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts, majoring in Fine Art with a focus on printmaking and sculpture. This strong foundation has become the launching point for an ever-evolving artistic journey, one defined by curiosity, experimentation, and a willingness to explore new forms of expression.

Working across an impressive range of mediums—including painting, mixed media, collage, encaustic, polymer clay, papier-mâché, textiles, and large-scale cane and paper sculpture—Alex delights in discovering the unique possibilities each material offers. Her practice is driven by a playful spirit of exploration, where texture, colour, and form combine to create works that are both visually compelling and deeply evocative.

Her artistic style is as diverse as the materials she employs, moving effortlessly between abstraction and realism. At the heart of her work is a profound connection to the natural world. The beauty of animals, plants, expansive landscapes, and ever-changing skies provides a constant source of inspiration, while a lifelong fascination with ancient cultures, primitive art, spirituality, and belief systems adds layers of symbolism and wonder. Through her art, Alex invites viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with both the beauty of nature and the enduring mysteries of human existence.
